As the year draws to a close the WTA released its year-end rankings of the best players in the game and the list below shows where the top women in the game ended in the global ranking.

The stars of the WTA battled it out in 59 tournaments, 33 countries and six continents this year, and it's all led to this - the 2015 Year-End WTA Rankings, which are official today, Monday, November 9.

Here are 10 Things To Know about this year's year-end list. Where did your favorite player finish?

1) Serena is year-end No.1 for the third year in a row, and fifth year overall.
After a season that saw her go 53-3 and conquer three of the four Grand Slams, Serena Williams is the year-end No.1 for the third year in a row and fifth year overall. Read more about her feat here.

2) Halep had the best year of her career.
Simona Halep had her first Top 10 season in 2014, finishing at No.3, and she's outdone herself in 2015, finishing at No.2. What did the Romanian trailblazer think about her year? Find out right here.

3) Muguruza had by far the best year of her career.
Having finished 2014 at No.21, Garbiñe Muguruza may have been the biggest breakthrough story of 2015 - first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, biggest title of career in Beijing and a meteoric rise up the WTA Rankings took the youngest player in the Top 10 all the way up to No.3 in the world by year-end.

4) Sharapova missed almost four months but still finished at No.4.
Thanks to big results at almost all the biggest events - two Premier titles, finals of the Australian Open, semifinals of Wimbledon - Maria Sharapova finished at No.4 despite missing almost four months between July and October due to leg and forearm injuries. It's her fifth straight finish in the Top 4.
5) A fantastic fall pushed Radwanska to No.5 by year's end.
Agnieszka Radwanska left the US Open at No.13 but a 17-4 record in the fall - with titles at Tokyo, Tianjin and the WTA Finals - she finishes at No.5. It's her third Top 5 finish in the last four years.
6) Venus, Venus, Venus...
Yeah baby, she's got it again. Like Radwanska, Venus Williams came alive in a big way in the fall, winning her two biggest titles in five years at Wuhan and Zhuhai, and by winning in Zhuhai over the weekend she's back in the Top 10 for the first time since 2011. Read all about her renaissance here.
7) Kvitova, Pennetta, Safarova and Kerber round out the year-end Top 10.
At No.6, No.8, No.9 and No.10, respectively, Petra Kvitova, Flavia Pennetta, Lucie Safarova and Angelique Kerber round out the year-end Top 10. It's Pennetta and Safarova's first Top 10 finishes.
8) This will be Pennetta's first and last Top 10 finish.
After winning her first Grand Slam title at the US Open, Pennetta announced she would be retiring from professional tennis at the end of the season. Read all about the Italian's fairytale ending here.
9) The WTA Rising Stars are coming.
Four more WTA Rising Stars - Karolina Pliskova, Belinda Bencic, Madison Keys, Elina Svitolina - scored their first Top 20 finishes this year, at No.11, No.14, No.18 and No.19 in the world, respectively. Pliskova actually made it into the Top 10 earlier this year; Bencic was a win away from the elite.
10) A little more info about the year-end Top 100...
The oldest and youngest players in the year-end Top 100 are Venus Williams (35) and Ana Konjuh (17), and there are 33 countries represented in there (the United States has the most players with 13).
