The 21 Grand Slam and 6 Wimbledon champion winner had to shake off a shaky start to beat an upstart but solid player in Garbine Muguruza of Spain. She would shake off that shaky start after falling behind 3 – 1 to come back and break the Spaniard three times to take the set 6 - 4.
In the second set it was all signature Serena as she stormed back, despite a valiant effort by the younger Muguruza who fought back to not only break Serena once in the second set but won four points to make the match competitive but with several unforced errors she finally fell to the greatest woman tennis player of all time, Serena Williams.
