According to a report in the Sunday World, Buthelezi allegedly recommended that all those present inside the house when the Bafana Bafana captain was shot dead be arrested and charged for lying to the police.
It’s further alleged Buthelezi received death threats after she made the recommendation.
“She gave the docket to her superiors, but they were sceptical to implement her suggestions.
“It’s now gathering dust in one of the colonel’s offices at the SAPS head office in Pretoria.”
Meyiwa was shot dead in an alleged botched robbery at his on-off girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s Vosloorus home last year. At the house at the time of the incident were Khumalo, her sister Zandi, music producer Chicco Twala’s son Longwe and the Meyiwa’s friends Tumelo Madladla and Mthokozisi Twala.
National police spokesperson Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale however told the publication Buthelezi did not receive threats.
“Captain Buthelezi provides specialist psychological investigation support to the team as and when required.
“She has never reported receiving death threats. In fact, no one in the investigation team has received death threats,” he said.
