Adi bagged his third brace of the season in a three-minute span during Portland’s 4-1 win over Cascadian rival Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday night. The Nigerian was active for all 90 minutes, landing three of his five shots on goal. He becomes the first Timbers player to earn a Player of the Week nod this season.
With Portland and Seattle knotted up at 1-1 in the 74th minute, Darlington Nagbe made a fantastic run that drew four Sounders players his way. Adi slipped behind Seattle’s backline, found an opening in the middle of the box, and tucked a right-footed shot perfectly inside the top right corner of the net off a feed from Nagbe.
The Portland Timbers return to MLS action on Sunday, when they host the San Jose Earthquakes at Providence Park at 5:00 p.m. ET (ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, TSN2)
