Mondo is the leader brand that has witnessed the achievements of athletes who have written pages of sporting history; over 250 track and field records broken on the surface produced at the plant in Gallo d'Alba. A name that is inextricably linked to the past, present and future of Athletics.
The past is recorded in history, the future is Rio 2016 and the present is called the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015, scheduled to be held from 22 to 30 August.
Due to its immediate success, the local organizing committee of the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015 decided to have the Bird’s Nest facilities completely refurbished and, once again, to install Mondotrack.
In the stadium where Mondotrack made its first appearance, today, behind closed doors, Mondo previews Mondotrack WS, the surface on which the next Olympic Games will be held in Rio in 2016, the 11th for the company from Gallo d’Alba.
A long lasting successful partnership, IAAF and Mondo announce the renewal of their partnership until 2024.
Mondo has been a partner of the International Association of Athletics Federations since 1987, the year that marked the beginning of their technical collaboration to improve the facilities and equipment dedicated to this sport.
In 1999 Mondo was one of the first companies to obtain an IAAF Certified Athletic Track Products certificate. Today these products include Sportflex Super X and, naturally, Mondotrack chosen for most IAAF World Athletics Series events:
- 10 IAAF Outdoor World Championships
- 13 IAAF Indoor World Championships
- More than 40 IAAF Class 1 Certified Facilities
- More than 130 IAAF Class 2 Certified Facilities
“The world governing body of Athletics is proud to count Mondo as an IAAF Official Supplier and to renew its long term partnership,” commented IAAF President Lamine Diack.
“The IAAF World Athletics Series of events continues to benefit from the quality and technical expertise of Mondo. Its sports surfaces are globally recognised as being at the cutting edge having been the stage for some memorable Athletics performances, none more so than Usain Bolt’s Olympic victories here in Beijing in 2008.”
Rio 2016 Olympics Once again the Mondo brand will play a prominent role at the Olympic Games.
An agreement has just been signed between the company and Augusto Velloso, the Brazilian company who is constructing the Engenhão Stadium for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Mondo will lay 16 thousand m2 of Mondotrack WS, the entire surface of the main track and the warm-up tracks, in conjunction with its historic Brazilian partner Playpiso.
