Appointed last month on a year-long contract, Mtawali has summoned some new players in the squad such as Moyale Barracks' Juma Chikwenga, Chisomo Mpachika (Kamuzu Barracks) and Jaffalie Chande (Big Bullets).
Foreign based players including captain Joseph Kamwendo of TP Mazembe are expected to beef up the squad for Mtawali who insists that at the national team level camping for some seven days ahead of a match is enough.
Malawi sits at the bottom of Group L after 2-1 home loss to Zimbabwe in the opening match last June.
