The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has turned down a request from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to use the Antoinette Tubman Stadium or the Samuel Kanyon Doe complex in Monrovia for their U-23 Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers.
The decision by the LFA came after Liberia recently recorded new Ebola cases just months after they were declared an Ebola Free State.
Sierra Leone was still seeking a venue for their home matches and was expected to host the young Fennecs of Algeria on the weekend of July 31-August 2 in Monrovia but the latest development has forced the SLFA to use Algeria as their home ground.
He said: “We are now using Algeria as our home ground for the return leg but we hope to use Monrovia in later part of the situation in our country remain the same.”
