Lausanne, Switzerland, July 29, 2015 – A Level II Coaches Course took place in the Seychelles from July 6 to 18. The course was supported by Olympic Solidarity.
The instructors for the course were Jivko Jetchev of Bulgaria and Bernard José Denis of the Seychelles.
The instructors pointed out that while volleyball is the most popular team sport in the Seychelles, the small population (about 84,000) is scattered over many islands, making sports organisation difficult.
Among those participating in the course were Canadian Jason Haldane, who is coaching a women’s team in Turkey, and Adnan Pasaglu, who is from Turkey. Among the local coaches was Ruudy Joseph, who graduated as a volleyball coach in Cuba.
The main goal of the national federation is to win medals in the upcoming Indian Ocean Games and to participate in the African Volleyball Championships.
The federation is also promoting volleyball in schools.
