Douanes, who last won the league crown seven years ago cruised to the title after fellow contenders, Niarry Tally, which had led the table for most part of the season were held to a barren draw at relegation bound Port de Dakar.
The two sides finished the 14-club league on 43 points each and same goal difference (+11), but Douanes had the edge via head-to-head; 4-3 loss away and 3-0 win in the reverse fixture.
It is the sixth title overall for Douanes after 1993, 1997, 2006, 2007 and 2008, which earns them the ticket to represent Senegal in next year’s CAF Champions League.
The newly crowned champions are on course for a domestic double, with a Coupe de la Ligue final date against second-tier Dakr Sacre Coeur next month.
Meanwhile, it was a sad moment for dethroned champions, AS Pikine, who have been relegated from the top flight. ‘Les Pikinois’ finished on a place above bottom-place Port de Dakar on 28 points.
