Kenya beat rivals Uganda 2-0 for the first time since 2004 to claim their first win of Group B on Sunday, 22 November 2015 at the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Kenya`s first goal came in the 28th minute from Jacob Keli who finished a brilliant through ball from Anthony Akumu to send Kenyan fans wild in the stands.

The early goal got Uganda awake and they launched several attack but could not find the back of the net with captain Miya Farouk hitting the woodwork and Ceaser Okhuti missing a sitter from a Erias Ssekisambu cross.

With the Harambe Stars leading 1-0 at half time, it was a tense moment for both coaches with players chasing for every single ball.

Kenya coach Bobby Williamson, previously in charge of Uganda replaced Keli with Michael Olunga, whilst his Uganda counterpart Millutin Sredojevic brought on Keziron Kizito in midfield for Hassan Wasswa and Ivan Ntege for Isaac Muleme to create chances for the team.

But it was Kenya, who found the back of the net again through substitute Michael Olunga from a well-laid cross from Clifton Miheso to seal their three points in the tie.

“We brought a strong team and we deserve to win,” said Kenyan coach Williamson

On his part, Sredojevic said, “we will not be carried away by our loss today, we have a mission and we will accomplish it. We lost but we are positive of our next games to come”

In the other game of the day, Tanzania beat Somalia 4-0 in a highly entertaining game especially from the young Somalia side that started the game with a positive attitude by attacking Tanzania from the onset of the game.

But a brace from John Bocco in the 12th minute and 55th minute as well as Elias Maguli 17th and 53rd goal condemned the entertaining Somalia who stayed positive for the rest of the game.

Somalia missed several chances through Hasan Farid Hassan but this did not stop their tactician Livingston Mbabazi to applause his players for the great performance.

“We have a young team. In fact, they are all U-23 and we brought them to test them for the future engagements. I know we are learning from every game and you will see difference in our next game,” said Mbabazi.

A calm looking Tanzania coach Abdallah Kibadeni said “it’s good you win your first game although Somalia is different team now. On the other side, the boys played and followed the instructions and now we look at other games”
