Peter Bonu Johnson will not stay on coach of the Gambia U-23 team and African Nations Championship (CHAN) teams, the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has announced.
A statement by the GFF said “the probation period of Mr. Bonu Johnson which lasts for three months and its extension of one month will be ending on the 31 July 2015. Consequently, Mr. Johnson’s services would not be renewed any longer as Head Coach of the CHAN/U-23 Team”.

The release did not go further to mention when a replacement will be appointed and put in place for the Scorpions.
The news comes barely two weeks ago after Bonu Johnson and his charges lost to Senegal at the preliminary round of the CHAN Rwanda 2016 qualifiers.
Bonu Johnson, a former defender of the Scorpions has a wealth of experience coaching the various national teams from the youth sides to the senior level. He was in in charge of the Gambia’s abortive campaign in the qualifiers of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
