The competition will feature Auckland City FC of New Zealand (OFC Champions League winners),Club America of Mexico (CONCACAF Champions League winners), FC Barcelona of Spain (UEFA Champions League winners), River Plate of Argentina (CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores winners), TP Mazembe of Congo DR (CAF Champions League winners) as well as the AFC Champions league winners and a club from Japan’s J.League representing the host nation.
The J.League, with Urawa Reds winning the first stage, the second stage is now led by Sanfrecce Hiroshima with one match left. The champions will be determined at the J.League Championship final to be played on 2 and 5 December.
