Nigeria made a triumphant entry into the second round of the continental qualifiers for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup courtesy a 7-0 thumping of Liberia on Saturday in Ibadan.
The Falconets booked their place at the next round, 14-1 on aggregate, the biggest victory at the second round thus far.
A brace each from Aminat Yakubu and Joy Ebinimiere Bokiri coupled with a goal each from Amarachi Ojinma, Chinaza Uchendu and Adeboyejo Yetunde was all Peter Dedevbo’s ladies needed to complete a double over their West African counterparts.

In Ouagadougou, visiting Algeria came from behind to hold Burkina Faso to a 1-1 draw. Chantal Drabo scored the opener on 36 minutes before Naima Lamari drew level on 75 minutes, as the Burkinabes progressed 3-2 on aggregate.
A barren draw in Lusaka against Tanzania was enough for Zambia took their place at the penultimate round 4-0 on aggregate.
Earlier on Friday, Ghana’s Black Princesses completed a double over Senegal, beating them 2-0 away in Dakar. Second half strikes from Jane Ayieyam and Lily Niber Lawrence ensured passage for the Ghanaians, 8-0 on aggregate.
Equatorial Guinea booked a date with Ghana at the next round after a 0-0 draw with Mali in Bamako. The Equatoguineans advanced 4-0 on aggregate.
Nomathamsanqa Sikweza’s first half strike gave South Africa’s Basetsana a lone goal win over Botswana in Gaborone. Sheryl Botes charges booked their place at the second round 9-1 on aggregate and their next opponent is regional rivals, Zambia.
Two teams will qualify to represent Africa at the final tournament scheduled for 28 October to 16 November 2016 in Papua New Guinea.
