Egypt's Mariam Morsy encourages her teammates during the match against Chinese Taipei
Lima, Peru, August 9, 2015 – Egypt defeated Chinese Taipei 3-1 (25-22, 18, 25, 25-21, 25-20) in a match of Pool A of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ World Championship at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on Sunday.
Mariam Morsy and Nada Meawad each fired 20 points to lead Egypt while Maya Ahmed delivered 14 points in the win. Ching Hsun Huang and Jia Ling Chang were the top offensive players for Chinese Taipei with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Egypt had the edge in blocks 11-10, led in aces 7-5 and in spikes 51-39. The winners made 34 errors, 10 more than Chinese Taipei.
Both teams have now 1-1 win-loss record.
Egypt played catch up for the most part of the first set but managed to tie at 21-all. The African champions then won four of five points to close 25-22 with two spikes each by Maya and Morsy.
Chinese Taipei won the second set after trailing 16-15. The Asian team surprised a sleepy opponent to close at 25-18 by winning 10 of the last 12 points disputed.
Egypt commanded from start to finish in the third set with 8-4 and 16-11 leads at the TTO before closing the actions at 25-21.
The African champions built an early lead in the fourth set and never relinquished it. The final score was 25-20.
