Action from Egypt's win over Botswana

Cairo, Egypt, July 24, 2015 – Hosts Egypt and Algeria became the first two teams to secure semifinal tickets at 2015 Men's African Nations Championship after both teams marked their second straight-sets victories on Day 3 of the competition held at Cairo Stadium Complex on Friday.

Egypt topped Botswana 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-10), while Algeria overcame a comeback by Kenya in the second set to win 3-0 (25-17, 28-26, 25-23).

Egypt head the standings on points ratio ahead of Algeria. Both are now 2-0 with six points, while Kenya and Botswana are both 0-2.

Morocco complicated the situation in the strong Pool B after they hammered Cameroon 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 30-28, 25-21) in a thrilling encounter with a sensational performance from Moroccan opposite Mohamed Hachdadi. Tunisia overcame Mauritius 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-7) in the other pool match.

Morocco lead the pool with six points from a 2-0 record, followed by Cameroon (2-1, five points), Tunisia (1-1, four points), Rwanda (1-1, three points) and Mauritius, who are 0-3.

The African Championship acts as a qualifier for the 2015 FIVB Men's World Cup in Japan in September, with the top two teams securing tickets to Tokyo.

The competition resumes on Saturday with four matches in both pools. Pool A features Algeria v Egypt for the top of the pool and Kenya-Botswana for third position, while in Pool B, Rwanda face Tunisia and Morocco line up against Mauritius.
