The collaboration between Kazakhstan’s Shvedova and Australian Dellacqua began earlier this year at the Mutua Madrid Open, where they clinched their debut title as a doubles pairing. Following that initial success, the duo went on to reach the final at Roland Garros, Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati and the US Open. This will be Shvedova’s third WTA Finals appearance having qualified in 2010 and 2011 with Vania King. Dellacqua will be making her WTA Finals debut.
The newly qualified teams will be joined in Singapore by Martina Hingis/Sania Mirza and Lucie Safarova/Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
