Venezuela started well in the first set, leading 8-5 at the first technical timeout after a Kervin Martin Piñerua Urbina's kill from the wing before a fight back from Egypt saw them in front at 16-13. The Egyptians were able to hold this lead with very consistent play to win the set 25-22.
Egypt continued their momentum into the second set, leading 8-6 at the first technical time-out. Venezuela had no answers to a series of attacks from Badawy Mohamed Moneim and quickly found themselves trailing 12-16. Egypt continued to play strong and eventually took the set 25-22.
