Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 17, 2015 - Speaking at the 21st AVC General Assembly, ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah voiced his support for FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°'s vision for the sports of volleyball and beach volleyball and the FIVB's '9 Goals' strategic plan. He also underlined the importance of Olympic Agenda 2020, the International Olympic Committee's roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement.
The AVC General Assembly meeting in Riyadh comes soon after President Graça officially launched the FIVB's 9 Goals project at the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Finals in Fort Lauderdale, USA at the beginning of October.
The 9 Goals were devised through a collaborative, internal process which looked at the main areas of development and progress and were approved by the FIVB Board of Administration earlier this year.
Volleyball and beach volleyball continue to set the benchmark for dynamic and innovative family sport entertainment and the 9 Goals will ensure this upward trajectory of success is maintained.
The Olympic Agenda 2020, which was unanimously agreed at the 127th IOC Session in Monaco in December 2014, includes 40 detailed recommendations which provide a picture of what the Olympic Movement will be in the years ahead. The reforms follow a year of discussion and consultation with all stakeholders of the Olympic Movement, as well as external experts and the public.
