ALGIERS (AfroBasket Women 2015)-In the lead-up to AfroBasket Women 2015, we take a closer look at all 12 participating teams competing in the championship running from 24 September-3 October in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Team: Algeria
FIBA Women Ranking:
70th
Last participation at AfroBasket Women:
2013(2 win, 5 losses; 11th place)
Qualified for AfroBasket Women 2015:
Winner of the FIBA Africa Zone I Qualifier
Best result in the history of AfroBasket Women: 4th AfroBasket Women 1968

History / Qualification: The development of the women's basketball in Algeria has not kept pace with men. In fourteen fifteen appearances at AfroBasket, the men’s team won two medals (1 silver and 1 bronze).

This is not the case for women who have only six appearances without any medal.

Two years ago in Maputo; Algeria who were making their comeback at the continental stage after 10-year of absence finished eleventh.

This year, the team which secured qualification after two win over Morocco in their two-leg FIBA Africa Zone 1 qualifier against Morocco is dreaming big.

The North Africans have been drawn in Group B along with Angola,Senegal, Nigeria, Guinea and Egypt.

Key Player: As Wahiba Aissani who led Algeria with 10.7points per game in 2013 is ruled out, Algeria will rely on Nesrine Taibi.

Two years ago, the 26-yearold forward had a pivotal role as she averaged 9.3 points and 6.5rebonds per game.

Rising stars: Lylia Tlemsani and Aicha Benaouda are two promising stars who are set to make their debuts with Algeria's senior team at AfroBasket Women 2015.

In last year's U18 AfroBasket Women in Cairo, Egypt, Tlemsani collected a team-high 10.7 points per game, while point guard Benaouda dished out a team-best 4.9 assists per contest.

Tlemsani got a glimpse of what to expect at AfroBasket Women 2015 having featured for Algeria at the 2015 All-African Games in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

Although Benaouda didn't play in Brazzaville, coach Labouize feels the 19-year-old should play a role at Africa's biggest women's competition.

Outlook: Head coach Labouize has clearly stated that Algeria is eyeing the Quarter-Finals.

For this purpose, he has called up five of the 12 players who featured at AfroBasket Women 2013 in Maputo, Mozambique.

Possible Outcome: The team could win two games.
