BAMAKO (2015 FIBA Africa U16 Men's Championship) - The draw for the fourth edition of the FIBA Africa U16 Championship took place on Wednesday night at Hotel Onomo, in Mali's capital city of Bamako.
During the draw, the 12 countries taking part in the event were divided into two groups of six teams each. The groups are:
Group A: 1. Mali; 2. Egypt; 3. Equatorial Guinea; 4. Nigeria; 5. Rwanda, 6. Algeria.
Group B: 1. Angola; 2. Tunisia; 3. Central Africa Republic; 4. Morocco; 5. South Africa; 6. Ethiopia.
Following the opening ceremony set to take place at 6 pm, hosts Mali will open their campaign against Rwanda.
The first phase of the tournament will be played in a round robin format, with every team taking on its opponents in its respective group.
The top four teams from each group will qualify for the Quarter-Finals, with Group A crossing Group B (A1-B4; A2-B3; A3-B2; A4-B1).
The second phase of the tournament will be played in a knockout format from the Quarter-finals to the Finals.
The 2015 FIBA Africa U16 Championship is a qualifier for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship.
The two teams that reach the Final of the event in Bamako will represent Africa at next year's U17 Worlds.
