ASVG Media | CAF has issued an amendment to its commercial-rights Invitation to Tender following the October 29 decision to restore the Africa Cup of Nations' two-year cycle. The amendment, issued November 2 and announced November 3, confirms that the three editions covered by the tender are AFCON 2028, 2031 and 2033, including their finals and qualifiers. The amended submission deadline is November 16 at 17:00 Cairo time. CAF also cites more than 3.2 billion cumulative television audiences and six billion digital views for AFCON 2025, although those audience metrics should not be interpreted as unique individuals.
This is a major development for the commercialization of African football. Potential commercial-rights partners now have a clarified competition portfolio against which to develop sponsorship, licensing and activation proposals. For ASVG and ASM, the implications extend beyond football: the way CAF packages long-term commercial inventory offers a useful benchmark for the Legends Athletics & Running Series and other emerging African sports properties. ASM should examine how CAF's revised calendar could influence sponsor budgets, marketing cycles and rights valuations.
