ASVG Media | Nigeria's National Sports Commission has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu's promised financial rewards to the Super Falcons have been fulfilled following their Women's Africa Cup of Nations triumph in 2025. The presidential commitment provided $100,000 to each player and $50,000 to members of the technical staff. BusinessDay reported that players had begun receiving approximately ₦140 million each, representing the local-currency equivalent of the original pledge. The payment follows a waiting period of approximately 15 months after the July 2025 announcement.

The development raises a broader commercial question: how should Africa's elite female athletes be compensated, protected and marketed after major international achievements? Government rewards are different from guaranteed salaries, endorsement contracts and long-term athlete commercial rights. For ASM's Women's Sports Economy editorial program, this offers an opportunity to examine the financial structures supporting African women's football. For ASVG, the story reinforces the importance of designing transparent athlete compensation, NIL arrangements and commercial participation models across its own properties.
