Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has topped the NFL’s player-earnings ranking again, with Sportico estimating that he will generate $88.8 million this season. Approximately $32 million will come from endorsements and business ventures, demonstrating the commercial power Mahomes has built beyond his playing contract. Collectively, the league’s 20 highest-paid players are projected to earn $1.07 billion—7% more than last year—with salaries and bonuses accounting for 84% of the total.
The ranking also illustrates the extraordinary financial premium placed on football’s most influential position. Quarterbacks occupy 17 of the top 20 places and every position in the top 15, up from 15 quarterbacks a year ago. Mahomes stands apart because he combines elite playing income with one of the NFL’s strongest endorsemet and investment portfolios, offering a powerful example of how athletes can convert sporting performance into long-term enterprise value.
