Kenyan brand SportPesa has brought a piece of its Formula 1 history back to East Africa, unveiling a full-scale replica of its 2019 Racing Point Formula 1 car at the 54th Africa Concours d'Elegance at Nairobi's Ngong Racecourse on September 27. SportPesa was title sponsor of Racing Point in 2019, when Sergio Pérez and Lance Stroll competed under the SportPesa Racing Point identity. Under a new "Home For Good" initiative, the show car will remain in Kenya and tour malls and other public spaces, transforming an old international sponsorship asset into a continuing domestic fan-engagement platform.

Commercially, this is an unusually smart example of an African company extracting long-tail value from a past global sports investment. Instead of allowing its Formula 1 association to disappear when the original sponsorship ended, SportPesa is repackaging that history into experiential marketing, content and motorsport engagement at home. The company is already investing in Kenyan rallying and emerging motorsport talent, making the F1 activation potentially more than nostalgia. For African brands contemplating expensive global sponsorships, the lesson is significant: international exposure becomes considerably more valuable when the acquired IP and brand story can subsequently be activated for years in the company's core African market.
