Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi is set to leave Nottingham Forest for Coventry City after the clubs agreed a reported £17 million transfer. Awoniyi has been given permission to undergo a medical, placing the move at the agreed/medical stage rather than final official completion.
For African football, this is one of Sunday morning’s most significant developing moves. Awoniyi has spent four years with Forest and now appears set for a fresh Premier League opportunity with Coventry, who have been aggressive in strengthening after promotion. The Nigeria striker would join a squad that has already added Ghana international Caleb Yirenkyi and Nigeria midfielder Frank Onyeka during a highly active summer.
