Nigerian global music star Ayra Starr is set to make NFL history as the first Afrobeats artist to headline an NFL game halftime show, performing during the Philadelphia Eagles–Jacksonville Jaguars matchup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on October 11, 2026. The performance is part of the NFL's expanded International Games entertainment program, which will stage seven halftime shows across seven countries and four continents this season. Importantly, this is not the Super Bowl halftime show, but it represents a significant breakthrough for Afrobeats within one of the world's most commercially powerful sports ecosystems.

Commercially, Ayra Starr's selection demonstrates how African music and culture are becoming increasingly valuable components of global sports entertainment. With American Express presenting the NFL International Games halftime-show series, the initiative brings together sport, music, sponsorship and international fan acquisition as the NFL continues building its audience outside the United States.

For Africa's sports and entertainment industries, Ayra Starr's milestone provides another example of Afrobeats functioning as a global cultural export capable of connecting major international brands and sports properties with Africa's young, digitally engaged audience and its worldwide diaspora.
