Saudi Arabia will host the World Match Racing Tour Finals and Women's World Match Racing Tour Final at AMAALA Yacht Club on the Red Sea this November, marking the championship's first visit to the Kingdom. The two events will run back-to-back, with each carrying a US$200,000 prize purse; World Sailing says the women's purse will be the largest prize ever offered for an all-female sailing event.
Commercially, the announcement fits Saudi Arabia's wider strategy of using international sport to accelerate destination development, tourism, hospitality and global visibility. AMAALA is not merely purchasing an event—it is using an established international sports property to help position the Red Sea as a premium sports-tourism destination. For Africa, particularly countries with extensive coastlines and developing resort economies, the model deserves attention: sailing, surfing, endurance sport and other destination-based competitions can become tools for tourism investment, hospitality revenue, international media exposure and place branding, rather than being evaluated solely on ticket sales. #ASVGMedia #SaudiArabia #AMAALA #WorldSailing #WomensSports #SportsTourism #SportsInvestment #MiddleEastSports
