Manchester City are closing in on one of the biggest remaining deals of the summer, with Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi reportedly agreeing personal terms ahead of a proposed transfer worth about £85 million (€100 million). The Guardian reports that the final club-to-club agreement is still being completed, meaning this should be classified as an advanced negotiation rather than an official signing at this stage.
The 18-year-old’s arrival would form part of a major rebuilding of City’s midfield and carries added relevance for African football because of Bouaddi’s Moroccan background. The potential transaction is also intertwined with growing uncertainty over Rodri, with Barcelona expected to return after an initial bid was rejected. Should City finalize Bouaddi at the reported valuation, it would be another example of elite European clubs paying premium fees for young players they believe can anchor midfield units for much of the next decade.
