Real Madrid are on the verge of completing one of the biggest transfers in football history after reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig for highly rated Ivory Coast international Yan Diomandé in a deal reportedly worth up to €140 million, including performance-related bonuses. The 19-year-old winger, who emerged as one of world football's brightest young talents following his outstanding performances for Côte d'Ivoire, is expected to travel to the Spanish capital for a medical once the remaining formalities are concluded. Reports indicate the agreement includes a guaranteed fee of approximately €125 million, with additional bonuses potentially taking the total package to €135–140 million, making Diomandé the most expensive African footballer in history.

For Real Madrid, the signing represents another major investment in the club's long-term future, reinforcing its strategy of acquiring the world's most promising young stars before they reach their peak. For African football, the transfer is another landmark moment, highlighting the continent's growing influence in the global game and demonstrating that African talent continues to command record-breaking valuations at the highest level of world football. Should the move be completed as expected, Diomandé's arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu would mark one of the defining transfers of the 2026 summer window and further elevate the profile of African players on football's biggest stage
