The Uganda Tourism Board secured official destination sponsorship rights for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations through an agreement with CAF announced in Kampala on October 30. The partnership will promote the Explore Uganda – The Pearl of Africa brand through tournament broadcasts, digital channels and stadium advertising. Uganda will co-host AFCON 2027 with Kenya and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027. CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu and Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Juliana Kagwa attended the announcement alongside senior government officials.

The agreement represents an important example of a government tourism agency purchasing commercial rights to a major African sports property. Rather than relying solely on the arrival of visiting football supporters, Uganda intends to use AFCON's international audience to market its wildlife, culture, hospitality and wider visitor economy. The opportunity extends to hotels, airlines, transport operators, tour companies and local businesses. The sponsorship's financial value was not publicly disclosed, and its success will depend on measurable tourism outcomes rather than exposure alon
