BAYERN MUNICH–AJAX MATCH REPORTED FOR OPENING OF KENYA'S NEW 60,000-SEAT STADIUM

Industry publication The Stadium Business reported plans for Bayern Munich and Ajax to participate in an opening match at Kenya's new 60,000-seat Raila Odinga International Stadium in January 2027. The proposed event would provide a major international showcase for a venue intended to strengthen Kenya's capacity to host elite football and major sporting events. The report establishes the proposed match, but it should not be treated as independently confirmed by both clubs without their official announcements. 

The commercial opportunity lies in converting international exhibition matches into recurring stadium revenue. Premium hospitality, ticketing, sponsorship, broadcast rights and tourism packages could help Kenya develop the venue as a year-round sports and entertainment property. The longer-term test will be securing sufficient events to support operating costs and generate sustainable returns.
