Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe has delivered both a vote of confidence and a warning to the three hosts of AFCON PAMOJA 2027, insisting that the tournament will remain in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda while acknowledging that significant infrastructure work remains. During his current inspection tour, Motsepe said the hosts have roughly nine months and must accelerate preparations involving stadiums and supporting facilities. The tournament is scheduled for June 19–July 17, 2027 and will be the first AFCON jointly hosted by the three East African nations.
Commercially, the clock matters. AFCON infrastructure is not merely about having pitches ready for kickoff: broadcast compounds, hospitality inventory, transport, hotels, training facilities, fan zones, connectivity and sponsor activation spaces all determine how much value a host market can capture from the tournament. East Africa has an exceptional opportunity to turn PAMOJA 2027 into a regional sports-tourism and investment platform, but delayed delivery compresses the window in which organizers, broadcasters, travel businesses and sponsors can commercialize those assets. CAF's message is therefore as much an economic warning as an operational one: the earlier the infrastructure becomes commercially usable, the more of AFCON's value stays in the host economies.
