Houston, Texas USA (HOOPFEST Africa) July 30th, 2018 – YouthBuild Sierra Leone President; Mr. Robinson Sesay reached an agreement over the weekend with the Founder/CEO of African Sports Monthly Magazine, Mr. Leslie Koroma Sr. to Partner both organizations to deliver a major Social Impact event dubbed; HOOPFEST Africa which is meant to raise awareness and remind Sierra Leoneans and Africans at large about the clear and present danger of the existence of HIV/AIDS in their midst and not to become complacent about its existence till it is eradicated from existence, globally.
HOOPFEST Africa is a Basketball Tournament and initiative which will be used as Public Education Platform and Awareness Campaign Vehicle to bring attention to the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS in Sierra Leone and Africa at large.
The event which will take place from November 28th – December 1st 2018 at the Basketball Courts of the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown, Sierra Leone will feature sixteen 3x3 Basketball Teams who will battle for supremacy in the now very popular format of the basketball game (the 3x3 System of play).
Most important will be the underlying message of prevention from contracting the HIV/AIDS Virus and also how to live with it for those who may have contracted the virus and already know their status.
However, of the utmost importance will be, educating the public and those already infected to learn to live side by side STIGMA Free.
Sports is a Universal language that transcends any barrier known to man and the most effective vehicle for communicating messages of great importance in society that enhances harmonious and peaceful living.
HOOPFEST Africa has also successfully partnered with Ruth International Missions a US based organization and GRAND (GrassRoots Action for National Development) as additional stakeholders in delivering a strong and vibrant message about the clear and present danger about the menace of the HIV/AIDS health risk.
We emphasize getting tested and knowing your Status so that you can Live free of HIV/AIDS or live a responsible and productive life if you are already infected through seeking and staying in treatment till you overcome the disease.
