A total of six referee courses will take place in 2015
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 12, 2015 – The International Volleyball Federation is pleased to announce that six International Referee Candidate Courses will be held in 2015, with two further Refresher courses also set to take place.
The first International Beach Volleyball Referees Candidate Course will take place in Liechtenstein from July 5 to 12. This will be followed by another International Beach Volleyball Referees Candidate Course, this time in Senegal. Turkey will host the first International Volleyball Referees Candidate Course from July 30 to August 5 before two Refresher courses are held in Sudan and Iran in October. Bahrain and Indonesia will close the year with an International Volleyball Referees Candidate Course and an International Beach Volleyball Referees Candidate Course respectively.

An International Volleyball Referees Candidate Course is also expected to take place in Nigeria, with dates yet to be confirmed. This was has been rearranged after it was postponed from the 2014 calendar following the Ebola outbreak.
This year’s International Referees Candidate Courses will include new rules implemented during last year’s FIVB World Congress in Cagliari, Italy. This includes the new net contact rules which states: "Contact with the net by a player between the antennae, during the action of playing the ball, is a fault. The action of playing the ball includes (among others) take-off, hit (or attempt) and landing."
The FIVB International Referees Candidate Course are in place to keep referees' knowledge and competence of volleyball and beach volleyball rules in line with current trends in the sport.
International Referee Candidate Courses and Refresher courses take place every year and the FIVB encourages the development of refereeing skills all over the world at every level.
