
Five Sierra Leonean kids from the Craig Bellamy Foundation Academy (CBF) over the weekend helped the Dunn High School capture the CIF Division 7 boys’ soccer championship after defeating Condor League rival Laguna Blanca 2-1.
The five boy; Rodney Michael, Kelsey Sullivan, Dennis Cole, Sahid Conteh and Peter Kargbo who are all from the CBF academy played a huge role in scoring goals which helped the team reach the finals.
It was Rodney Michael who opening the scoring as he threaded his way through the Laguna Blanca defense to score in the fifth minute of the game.
The play of the night took place in the 57h minute when Conteh picked off a throw-in, at midfield and raced down the field ahead of everyone and scored to make it 2-0 but Laguna Blanca pull one back thanks to a Damian Nunez goal.
It was the third meeting between the two sides after they previously tied 3-3 and then 1-1 during their regular season schedule matches.
"This game was a lot like the first two times we played them," said Conteh. "In the last 10, 15 minutes they kept attacking us."
