
Tanzania’s“Taifa Stars” will lock horns with Malawi’s“The Flames” in a game that will be played at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza on March 29.
The Tanzania’s online publication, Daily News Online described the squad the Dutch born mentor has named as a formidable side which has drawn ten players from the country Premier league champions Azam and four foreign based stars.
“Nooij has named a strong squad which comprises 10 players from Premier League champion Azam,while a quartet of foreign –based players namely Mwinyi Kazimoto AL Markhiry-Qatar,Thomas Ulimwengu,Mbwana Samatta(TP Mazembe-Congo DR) and Juma Luizio (Zesco United –Zambia),” Daily News reported.
The Daily News Online also reported that the international friendly against Malawi will be the first for the Dutch born mentor to be in-charge of though he has overseen two games for the country’s second string side.
“This will be the first match for Nooij’s side this year ,although the Dutchman has been in-charge of the national team’s second string side,‘Taifa Stars Maboresho’ which has played at least two matches so far this year,” the publication reported.
Malawi coach named eight foreign based players who are plying their trade in South Africa, Congo DR and Zimbabwe but did not include players from the country’s reigning Super League champions Big Bullets in his squad which was released few days ago.
During the week of the international friendly Big Bullets will be hosting Al Hilal of Sudan in a return leg of Confederation Africa Football(CAF) Champions League.
