
Cairo, Egypt, March 25, 2016 - Libya's Swehly and hosts Zamalek became the first teams to secure quarterfinal places after the third day of the 2016 Men's African Club Championship on Friday.
It means both have a maximum nine points in Pool A and in the other match Daim Hamad of Sudan claimed the first victory over Senegal Police 3-2 (21-25, 26-24, 24-26, 25-19, 15-11) in epic tiebreaker that lasted 118 minutes.
In Pool B Ahly beat Douanes 3-0 (25-6, 25-14, 25-14) for a third consecutive victory, while Atletico battled past Espoir 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 16-25, 25-20) and TGOM beat Wolaitta 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-23).
Ahly led the pool with nine points ahead of Atletico who have six points.
In Pool C Geish won for a third time, 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-19) against Cameroon Sport and Esperance beat GSU 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-18).
Smouha defeated FAP (CMR) 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-16), Fanar of Algeria dominated Nahda for a 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-16) and Ahly Beni Ghazi (5 pts) saw off Nemostars with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19) victory.
The teams will be in a rest on Saturday before the pool stage resumes on Sunday.
