England based athlete and National record holder in the 100 meters Gibrilla Pato Bangura and Belgium based Adel Sesay are expected to compete in the 100m whilst Solomon Bockarie from Holland will race in the 200m and United States based Kathrin Ugo Eke is expected to compete in the 400m.
The SLAA vice president believes the country’s athletics team has the talent to win medals in the forthcoming games.
He said: “The association has been working very hard for the past two years to select the right athletes that will represent the country at the games and these athletes selected were the deserving ones whose selections are based on their performances at the national championship in Bo last month (for the Home based athletes) and overseas athletes were chosen from records of their current performances.”
Worth noting here is that Sierra Leone has never won a medal at the Commonwealth Games before.
