The Sasol sponsored women’s national team will travel to Lusaka to face the Zambian women’s national team in an international friendly match.
The match was due to be played in South Africa at Makwarele Stadium in Vhembe this weekend, but due to Zambia not being able to travel, Sasol Banyana Banyana will now face She-polopolo in their own backyard. Details of the match to be communicated soon.
“We are happy we can play a stronger nation as this will help us to test our strength ahead of the Championships. It is unfortunate that Zambia could not travel to South Africa, but thanks to the support we receive from SAFA and our sponsor Sasol for making sure that we are able to still play the match. It’s unfortunate that the technical team will not be around to see the talented players at the U/19 regional tournament,” said Banyana Banyana coach Vera Pauw.

Pauw’s charges have assembled in Auckland Park and they will hold their training sessions at the Nike Centre in Soweto before departing for Zambia on Thursday, 21 August.
Banyana Banyana will continue playing friendly matches in August ahead of the Championships. After that coach Pauw will name her final squad for the AWC to be played in Namibia.
