Ivanna Samu is just 18 holes away from realizing one of her major goals for 2014 after she took control in the second round of the prestigious Nomads SA girls Championship in Oakney Golf Club on Monday.
The recent Gauteng championship winner carded an even par 72 to pull two strokes clear of defending champion, Ji Sun Kang.
Samu knocked in a birdie putt at the par-five ninth to take the sting off bogeys second, fifth, seventh and eighth holes and turn in three over. She rallied with birdies at the 13th, 15th and 18th to top the leader board at three over par 147.

Kang notched three birdies to offset three bogeys, but double bogeys at the par five 10th and par four 13th saw saw the Western Province golfer slip to second after a disappointing 75.
Overnight leader, Cara Gorlei, from Western province signed for a costly 80 and fell to joint sixth at eight over 152 to join Gauteng Norths Carrie Park and Cara Contomathios from Gauteng who carded respective rounds of 76 and 72.
