“I would like to congratulate the new Springboks coach Allister Coetzee and wish him all the best. He is one sportsperson I knew from his youth days and saw him progress within his playing days. He is one of the best scrum-halfs ever produced in this country.”
Coetzee was among Jack White’s coaching staff when the Boks won the World Cup in France in 2007.
“He showed his mettle while coaching the Stormers. He takes over the reins of the Boks as a highly qualified individual and I am convinced he will take the national team to the next level,” added Dr Jordaan.
He said Coetzee’s historical commitment to non-racialism in sport was well documented adding it is something that ran through his entire career.
“I want to wish him success in his new job.”
