
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 21, 2016 - Picture of the Game reports for volleyball and beach volleyball were presented as the Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commissions opened a series of meetings at the FIVB headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Indicators examined included rally duration, 'flying ball' times, the structure of rallies, and, among others, attack-defence balance.

The Refereeing Commission examined how referees will prepare for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games from August 5 to 21. Theoretical and practical seminars will take place in the build-up to the Summer Games and referees will also be assessed on a range of physical criteria.
Work continues on bringing new technologies to the sports of volleyball and beach volleyball with tests ongoing. Working groups have been set up to monitor the evolution of these tests, which are being carried out in collaboration with the manufacturers.
It was also confirmed that the equipment used at the Group 1 Finals of the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League and World Grand Prix will be the same as at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
