After the equalizer, we had a chance to score but we missed it. If we had scored from that chance, I think things would have been different. The Ivorian strikers played very well and they scored more goals.
Two defeats and a draw plus elimination means very bad for Gabonese football and the federation will decide the future of the team. I hope they (the federation) will call me soon to tell me what they think because I am not the only coach in Gabon. I tried my best but I am first one who should be disappointed.
We are building a team for continuity and I hope most of the players will be part of the national team during the next AFCON.
Yves Stéphane Bitseki Moto (Captain, Gabon)
I’m frustrated at the facts and it’s very hard to understand. I don’t know the future. It appears that we have a lot do. I’m disappointed especially with the performance of the defenders but I hope that we will all improve.
Michel Dussuyer (Head Coach, Cote d’Ivoire)
We scored four goals which is very good especially for my strikers. In general, this gives us more confidence for the future matches. I must admit that when Gabon equalized, we got worried.
Some of my players have no experience which resulted in a lot of hesitations during our two matches especially in our game against the host country, but progressively we are improving. Having qualified for the quarters, the first objective is accomplished and I hope we will improve match after match.
Yao Serge N'guessan (Captain, Cote d’Ivoire)
Gabon is a good team but after the equalizer, we kept our heads high and didn’t lose confidence which inspired us to score three more goals and win the match. I hope we go far in this tournament and even win it.
The atmosphere in the team is positive. I hope to be part of the main national team someday, but only God knows the right time. I will keep doing my best and I’m confident I will be a part of the senior national team.
