At just 20-years-old, Kagiso Rabada is already being tipped for greatness.

Just how good he will be is an ongoing conversation in cricketing circles, and the general consensus is that his workload will need to be managed going forward if South Africa are to get the most out of what is surely their brightest young talent.

The other side of the fence would argue that Rabada bowling as much as he can at international level right now is how he will reach his potential quickest.

Speaking after his career-best seven-wicket haul against England on Saturday, the fast bowler displayed a hunger to do just that … bowl, bowl and bowl some more.

“I wasn’t that tired,” said a smiling Rabada.

“Obviously I will be a little bit tired because it is energy-sapping being in the field for a long time. It’s pretty normal to get a bit tired, I think, but I was okay … I could have bowled another 10 overs.”

With the extent of Kyle Abbott’s hamstring injury not fully know, Rabada and Morne Morkel may have to carry a heavier workload in the second innings.

“It just means we will have to bowl more overs,” Rabada said matter-of-factly.

Rabada now has 18 Test wickets to his name and, in just his sixth Test match, the future is bright.

“I know AB backs me … I know the whole team backs me,” he said.

“This is what I’ve always wanted growing up … I’ve always wanted to do this. I enjoy it. There are pressures – negatives and positives – but this is what I really want to do.”

“Growing up I wanted to play any international sport, but cricket was the one where I did the best. I’m loving this, it’s great.”
