24 February 2015 – South African U/17 Men’s national team (Amajimbos) coach Molefi Ntseki believes his players have earned the right to be ranked among the best on the continent.
Amajimbos made history after qualifying for their first ever U/17 FIFA World Cup after beating Cameroon 3-1, but have a huge obstacle in their way to reach the final when they meet Nigeria in the semi-finals of the CAF U/17 CAN on Wednesday.
The Nigerians are four-time champions and will stretch Ntseki’s charges to the limit in their quest to reach the final. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 16h00 (local time) at the General Seyni Kountche Stadium in Niamey, Niger.
Ntseki’s assertion is supported by inform midfielder and captain Nelson Maluleke whose brace helped sink Cameroon.
“It would be wonderful to beat Nigeria tomorrow. We have never played them before and this encounter must rank as one of the most tantalizing encounters in this tournament. It’s a blockbuster but we are relishing the challenge,” said Maluleke.
