After trailing most of the match, the Galaxy struck even when Magee, who subbed on in the second half, sent a curling corner kick into the box that Daniel Steres headed home in the 54th minute (Watch Assist). Minutes later, Magee gave LA the lead for good in the 64th minute, drawing D.C. goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra out from between the posts momentarily before sending a sublime chip shot into the back corner of the net for his first goal in MLS league action since 2014 (Watch Goal).
Magee added to his impressive homecoming by drawing a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, which Robbie Keane converted to give the Galaxy a 3-1 lead, and finished the night with a slick header off a Steven Gerrard free kick in the 87th minute for his second tally (Watch Goal).
The LA Galaxy return to action this Saturday on the road against the Colorado Rapids in the team’s first away game of the season (7 p.m. ET., MLS LIVE).
