It was a balanced game which saw each side having a fair share of chances in the opening minutes. Guinea forward Aboubacar Sylla saw his goal bound header on 18 minutes miss target narrowly.
At the other end, Zambia captain Christopher Katongo also headed wide from a Isaac Chansa cross.
The second half was no different as both teams fought hard in search of the equalizer. Chipolopolo midfielder Adrian Chama fired a thunderbolt on 65 minutes which missed by inches whilst Guinean Ibrahima Sory Soumah’s header from a Ibrahima Sory Sakhnon free-kick seven minutes later came off the post.
Zambia had the best chance during extra time after a Katongo squared Clatous Chama but Keita responded positively with a superb save.
With no goal, the game headed for penalties where Guinea triumphed. During penalties,
Ibrahima Bangoura, Mohamed Thiam, Issiaga Camara, Soumah and Keita scored for Guinea whilst Buchizya Mfune, Spencer Sautu, Chama and Adrian converted for Zambia.
Guinea will face 2009 winners DR Congo for a place at the final.
