
The 24 teams will be divided into four pools of six teams, which will compete in a Round-Robin system. The top two of each pool will advance to the quarterfinals, the winners will then advance to the semifinals and finals.
The third and fourth ranked teams in the preliminary round will play for the 9th to 16th classification matches, while the fifth and sixth ranked teams will face-off in the 17th to 24th classification matches.
Zamalek of Egypt, Police of Senegal, Swehly of Libya, Hamad of Sudan, Genermerie of Madagascar and DGSP of Congo are in Pool A; while Ahly of Egypt, Espoir of DR Congo, Douanes of Burkina Faso, Atletico of Cape Verde, TCOM of Gabon and Wolaitta of Ethiopia will face each other in Pool B.
GSU of Kenya, CSVB of Cameroon, Autoridade of Mozambique are grouped with tough contenders Esperance of Tunisia, Geish of Egypt, and Setif of Algeria are grouped in Pool C. Then Smoha of Egypt, Nahda of Sudan, Ahly B of Libya, Fanar of Algeria, FAP of Cameroon and Nemostar of Uganda complete the list of contenders in Pool D.
Dr. Elwani spoke during the opening ceremony and wished all the teams the best of luck in the competition. He commended the support of the teams in establishing a new record number of participation in the club tournament.
Egyptian Volleyball federation president Salam is likewise pleased with the number of participants and extended the support of the national federation through its facilities.
The tournament of the best African clubs teams will start on March 23 until April 1.
