
Espíndola jumpstarted D.C. United’s attack last Saturday, notching two goals to lead the club to a dominating 4-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC in front of an impassioned crowd at RFK Stadium. The victory was D.C. United’s first of the 2016 season with Espíndola’s brace placing him tied for fifth in the league in goals scored (3).
Espíndola came out of the half hungry for more, scoring his second of the match again on a rebound in the 54th minute. D.C. defender Steve Birnbaum headed a corner kick that deflected off the crossbar towards Espíndola, whose quick reaction shot right in front of goal doubled D.C. United’s advantage (Watch Goal).
D.C. United return to MLS action Saturday, April 16 when it hosts Toronto FC at RFK Stadium (5 p.m. ET, TSN4/MLS LIVE).
