Coventry City on Tuesday May 19th released Sierra Leone international midfielder, Alhassan Bangura aka Al Bangura and seven others.
The decision to let go of Bangura and others came after Tony Mowbray’s choice to remain as the Head Coach of the Sky Blues League One side.
The news of Bangura’s release is a disappointing one for the former Watford, Blackpool and Forest Green man who signed a short-term deal with the club in March with an option to impress boss Mowbray for a permanent deal.
After offering Bangura the contract, Mowbray earlier on said: "We've been impressed with the way Al has performed in training and for the Under-21s.
However, the 27-year-old was unable to make a single appearance for the club since he penned down the short term contract with the League One and that could have been one of the reasons for his release.
Meanwhile, strikers Frank Nouble, Shaun Miller, Simeon Jackson and Blair Turgott all follow Bangura out of the exit door including midfielder Adam Barton, centre-half Andy Webster and full-back Danny Pugh.
